# Headgear Quests

## Headgear Quests

*Every ornament carries a name. Every broken piece waits for someone willing to finish its story.*

**Headgear Quests** are a world-spanning collection of one-time character quests that transform gathered materials, forgotten equipment and Zeny into wearable rewards.

Rather than placing every recipe inside a single shop, EldenRO distributes the collection among **24 artisan NPCs** across Rune-Midgard and distant regions. Together, they preserve **296 independent quests**, each with its own story, requirements, reward and completion state.

{% hint style="info" %}
**The wiki is organized by artisan NPC.**

This overview explains the complete system and provides the NPC directory. Each artisan receives a dedicated article containing their location, lore and individual quest recipes instead of creating 296 separate headgear pages.

## How Headgear Quests Work

### 1. Find an Artisan

Travel to one of the registered Headgear Quest NPCs.

Each artisan is associated with a region and maintains a personal collection of **12 or 13 quests**.

### 2. Open the Quest Collection

Speaking with the NPC displays the headgear stories currently available through that artisan.

Each menu entry shows one of three states:

| Status          | Meaning                                                                  |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Available** | The quest has not been accepted by this character. |
| **In Progress** | The quest was accepted but its requirements have not yet been delivered. |
| **Completed** | The reward was already claimed by this character. |

### 3. Review the Story and Reward

Selecting an available quest reveals:

* The artisan's title.
* The story behind the damaged or unfinished piece.
* The name of the headgear reward.
* The option to accept the quest.
* The option to review the required materials.

### 4. Accept the Quest

Accepting changes that quest from **Available** to **In Progress**.

Every quest uses an independent internal state, so accepting one recipe does not prevent the character from accepting other Headgear Quests.

### 5. Gather the Requirements

Requirements may include:

* Monster drops.
* Existing equipment.
* Cards.
* Consumables.
* Quest materials.
* Rare components.
* Zeny.

The exact recipe is displayed by the artisan and documented on that NPC's wiki page.

### 6. Return to the Artisan

When revisiting an active quest, the NPC displays the current amount owned for every requirement.

Requirements shown in green are ready. Missing requirements are shown in red.

### 7. Deliver Everything

The artisan accepts delivery only when:

* Every material is present.
* The required Zeny is available.
* The character has enough inventory space.
* The character has enough remaining weight capacity for the reward.

The required materials and Zeny are then consumed together.

### 8. Receive the Headgear

After successful delivery:

* The reward is added to the inventory.
* The quest becomes **Completed**.
* A completion effect is displayed.
* The same character cannot repeat that specific quest.

***

## Quest Rules

### One-Time Character Progress

Headgear Quests are tracked per character.

Completing a recipe on one character does not automatically mark it as completed for every other character on the account.

### Independent Quest States

Every recipe uses a unique quest key.

This means:

* One completed headgear does not block another.
* One abandoned quest does not reset unrelated quests.
* NPC menus can display mixed Available, In Progress and Completed entries.
* Progress remains attached to the correct reward.

### No Partial Material Deposits

Artisans do not take materials one by one.

Nothing is consumed until the character possesses the complete recipe and confirms delivery.

This prevents partially submitted materials from becoming trapped inside a quest.

### Abandoning a Quest

An active Headgear Quest can be abandoned.

Abandoning:

* Returns the quest to **Available**.
* Does not affect other quests.
* Does not return materials because none were delivered beforehand.
* Allows the same character to accept that quest again later.

### Inventory and Weight Check

Before consuming anything, the system verifies that the reward can be carried.

When inventory space or weight capacity is insufficient, the quest remains active and the materials are not consumed.

### Completed Quests

A completed quest remains marked as **Completed**.

The artisan will acknowledge that the story has already been finished and will not issue the same reward again to that character.

## How NPC Articles Are Organized

Every artisan page follows the same structure.

### NPC Overview

The article identifies:

* NPC name and title.
* City or region.
* Exact coordinates.
* NPC lore and role.
* Number of available quests.
* A map or in-game screenshot.

### Quest Entries

Each quest entry documents:

* Reward name and item icon.
* Reward Item ID.
* Quest status behavior.
* Required materials and quantities.
* Required Zeny.
* Short story or crafting context.
* Notes about unusual requirements.
* Suggested farming references when verified.

### Why Quests Are Grouped by NPC

Grouping the collection by artisan:

* Matches the in-game menu.
* Preserves each NPC's identity and regional story.
* Prevents the wiki from becoming 296 nearly identical pages.
* Makes it easier to compare rewards available in one city.
* Allows players to prepare several recipes before visiting an NPC.

***

## Preparing for a Headgear Quest

Before traveling to an artisan:

* Check the NPC's dedicated wiki page.
* Confirm the exact reward.
* Review every material and quantity.
* Check whether Zeny is required.
* Verify whether required equipment should remain unrefined or unslotted.
* Leave enough inventory space.
* Confirm that the correct character is accepting the quest.

### Farming Efficiently

When several recipes use related materials:

* Group farming by monster or region.
* Store rare components before spending them elsewhere.
* Compare recipes that consume existing headgear.
* Bring all completed recipes to the artisan in one visit.
* Avoid buying materials before confirming the exact Item ID.

### Expensive Recipes

Some quests require rare equipment, cards or significant Zeny.

Before delivering:

* Recheck the reward.
* Confirm the required item is not part of your active build.
* Remove cards or upgrades only when the recipe specifically permits it.
* Compare market value against the reward's usefulness.
* Remember that consumed materials are not returned after completion.

***

## Quest Status Reference

### Available

An Available quest:

* Has not been accepted.
* Can display its story and requirements.
* Can be accepted immediately.
* Does not consume anything.

### In Progress

An In Progress quest:

* Remains linked to the character.
* Displays owned and required quantities.
* Can be completed when every requirement is ready.
* Can be abandoned and accepted again later.

### Completed

A Completed quest:

* Has already issued its reward.
* Cannot be repeated by that character.
* Remains visible in the NPC menu for collection tracking.
* Does not consume additional materials.

***

## Material Delivery Safety

### Requirements Are Checked Before Consumption

The artisan validates the complete recipe before removing:

* Materials.
* Equipment ingredients.
* Cards.
* Consumables.
* Zeny.

When any requirement is missing, nothing is consumed.

### Reward Capacity Is Checked First

The reward is issued only when the character can carry it.

This avoids completing the quest while the reward cannot enter the inventory.

### Exact Item Identity Matters

Different items may have similar names or appearances.

Use the NPC page and in-game item links to verify:

* Correct Item ID.
* Correct quantity.
* Correct equipment version.
* Correct card or material.
* Any required Zeny cost.

***

## Collection Planning

### Complete by Region

A regional approach allows a character to:

1. Choose a city.
2. Review that artisan's complete catalog.
3. Gather several recipes at once.
4. Deliver multiple completed quests during one trip.
5. Continue toward the next region.

### Complete by Build

Players may instead prioritize:

* Cosmetic headgear.
* Build-relevant effects.
* Required ingredients for later recipes.
* Rare collection pieces.
* Regional or thematic sets.

### Track Before Delivering

Maintain a personal checklist containing:

* Artisan.
* Reward.
* Quest state.
* Missing materials.
* Zeny cost.
* Whether the reward is for use, collection or trade.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Restore the piece. Preserve the story. Carry its name into another age.**

A Headgear Quest is more than a recipe: it is a forgotten design returned to the world through the hands of an adventurer.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://eldenro.gitbook.io/wiki/equipment/headgear-quests.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.
Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
