# Player Summoning

<figure><img src="/files/H3SZWTMllYkAsH1OhNZU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Player Summoning

*A sign is left behind. Another world answers.*

**Player Summoning** allows one adventurer to offer assistance through a **Summon Mark** and another player to call that adventurer into a temporary cooperative session.

The player who places the mark becomes the **Helper**. The player who activates it becomes the **Host**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**The mark owner is the Helper, not the Host.**

The Host is the Humanized player who discovers and activates another player's Summon Mark.
{% endhint %}

## Starting a Summon

### 1. Helper Places a Summon Mark

The prospective Helper places a **Summon Mark** through the White Sign Soapstone system.

The Helper must not already belong to a party.

Each character maintains one active mark, and an unused mark currently lasts **300 seconds**.

### 2. Host Activates the Mark

A Humanized player interacts with the mark.

At that moment:

* The player activating the mark becomes the Host.
* The mark owner becomes the Helper.
* The summon request begins.
* The Helper's availability is validated.

The mark must be on the Host's current map.

### 3. Temporary Party Is Prepared

When the Host has no party, EldenRO creates the session party automatically.

When the Host already has a party:

* The Host must be the party leader.
* The existing party becomes the active Elden summon session.
* The summoned Helper joins through the controlled party system.

The Host remains the session leader.

### 4. Helper Enters the World

Before moving the Helper, EldenRO records the Helper's current map and coordinates as a return point.

After the party join is confirmed:

* The Helper is warped to the Summon Mark.
* The mark is consumed.
* The Helper receives the Helper role.
* The cooperative session becomes active.

The Helper sees:

> `Thou art summoned. Stand within the host's world.`

***

## Summon Validation

The summon can fail when:

* The Helper is already in a party.
* The Helper is already tethered to another world.
* The Host is already acting as a Helper elsewhere.
* The Summon Mark no longer exists.
* The mark is on another map.
* The temporary party cannot be created or synchronized.
* The Host is not the leader of an existing party.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Activating a mark begins validation; it does not guarantee that the summon will complete successfully.
{% endhint %}

***

## Party Rules

Player Summoning uses a controlled party session instead of unrestricted normal party management.

Traditional party creation and invitations may be restricted so players cannot bypass the Summon Mark system.

The Host controls the session and is kept as party leader.

***

## Following the Host

When the Host changes maps, the session follows the Host's world.

Helpers who are not yet on the new Host map receive:

> **45 seconds**

to follow.

The Helper receives:

> `The host has crossed the veil. Return within 45 seconds.`

When the Helper reaches the Host's new map, the timer is canceled.

When the timer expires:

* The Helper is removed from the session party.
* The Helper role is cleared.
* The remaining session continues only with the members still attached to it.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The follow timer is a grace period, not permanent permission to remain on another map.
{% endhint %}

***

## Helper Death

When a summoned Helper dies:

1. The Helper is revived with **30% HP and 20% SP**.
2. The Helper returns to the position recorded before being summoned.
3. The Helper leaves the session party.
4. The Helper role and temporary session state are cleared.

The Helper receives:

> `Thy flesh fails. The tether is severed.`

A new Summon Mark is required before that character can be summoned again.

***

## Host Death

When the Host dies, the complete summon session ends.

For each connected Helper:

1. The Helper is revived with **30% HP and 20% SP**.
2. The Helper returns to the recorded pre-summon position.
3. The temporary party is disbanded.
4. Elden summon states are cleared.

The Host receives:

> `The host falls. The fellowship returns to ash.`

Helpers receive:

> `The host falls. Thou returnest to thy world.`

***

## Logout

Logging out during an active summon session follows the same cleanup path as death.

A Helper who leaves is removed from the session. If the Host leaves, the cooperative session ends.

An active Summon Mark is also removed when its owner logs out.

***

## Return Point

The Helper's return point is recorded immediately before the summon begins.

It contains:

* Original map.
* Original X coordinate.
* Original Y coordinate.

This temporary return point is separate from the Helper's normal **Site of Grace** and does not replace it.

***

## Quick Guide

### Helper

1. Leave any normal party.
2. Place a Summon Mark.
3. Remain online and available.
4. Wait for a Humanized Host to activate it.
5. Assist the Host after being summoned.
6. Follow the Host within 45 seconds after map changes.

### Host

1. Become Humanized.
2. Find another player's Summon Mark.
3. Activate the mark.
4. Remain party leader when already in a party.
5. Wait for the Helper to join.
6. Lead the cooperative journey.

{% hint style="success" %}
The Summon Mark is an offer of assistance.

The Helper leaves the sign; the Host answers it.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://eldenro.gitbook.io/wiki/multiplayer/player-summoning.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
